From Startup to Leader - The Growth Story of PHENEXS

PHENEXS, a high-tech enterprise specializing in intelligent sensing and edge computing solutions for industrial automation, is growing at an impressive pace and becoming a key player in the global industrial 4.0 infrastructure sector. Founded in 2016, PHENEXS was initially established in Shanghai's Zhangjiang Science City by three PhDs from Aachen University of Technology in Germany and the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The team, with the mission of "ensuring that every piece of equipment has the ability to perceive and think", started from a joint laboratory of less than 50 square meters. Today, it has grown into a national-level specialized "little giant" enterprise with over 300 employees, having technical centers in Munich, Germany, Tokyo, Japan, and Chicago, USA, and serving customers from 42 countries worldwide. 
In the early stage, PHENEXS focused on the research and development of high-precision industrial vibration sensor modules, successfully breaking the long-term monopoly of foreign countries in the high-end MEMS dynamic measurement field. In 2019, its self-developed PX-700 series wide-band intelligent sensing nodes passed ISO 13374-2 Class II certification, becoming the first batch of domestic edge perception units to pass the international vibration state monitoring standards. Since then, the company has accelerated the construction of a 'perception - transmission - analysis - decision-making' full-stack capability: In 2021, it released the PhenexOS edge operating system, supporting multi-protocol integration access and lightweight AI model deployment; In 2023, it launched the industry's first Predictive Edge Suite predictive maintenance platform for discrete manufacturing scenarios, and has achieved actual results such as average fault warning in advance by 127 hours and a 41% reduction in unplanned downtime on automotive component production lines. 
PHENEXS attaches great importance to collaborative innovation among industry, academia and research. It has jointly established the "Intelligent Edge Perception Joint Laboratory" with Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The company has cumulatively applied for 87 invention patents (including 23 PCT international patents), and led/ participated in the formulation of 5 national and industry standards such as "GB/T 42390-2023 Industrial Internet of Things Edge Intelligent Node Technical Specifications". In 2024, the company completed the B+ round of financing, with a valuation of 4.2 billion yuan. At the same time, it initiated the construction of the Suzhou Intelligent Hardware Headquarters Base, planning to produce millions of industrial intelligent sensing terminals annually.
